aim
of
contributing
substantive
elements
to
the
improvement of decision-making processes and to the analysis and resolution of macroeconomic problems
•
Develop
short-,
medium-,
and
long-term
macroeconomic
and
sectoral
forecasts
to
analyze
economic
policy
alternatives as solutions to the challenges facing the Mexican economy
•
Define
coherent
and
consistent
criteria
based
on
conjunctural
and
prospective
analysis,
with
the
objective
of
providing substantial support for decision-making processes under conditions of economic uncertainty.
•
Identify
key
factors,
opportunities,
and
internal
and
external
barriers
so
that
businesses
and
institutions
can
compete with better chances of success.
•
Integrate a group of academics and researchers interested in econometric modeling.
•
Improve
student
employability
by
turning
them
into
essential
contributors
to
decision-making
processes
through
the Applied Econometrics Specialization.
•
Facilitate
the
implementation
and
completion
of
graduate
programs,
considering
that
the
academic
structure
of
the specialization addresses deficiencies observed at various educational levels.
The
Center
for
Modeling
and
Economic
Forecasts
(CEMPE)
is
a
leading
actor
in
the
discussion
of
current
economic
policy.
Its
research
and
quarterly
meetings
serve
as
important
references
for
decision-making
among
both
public
and
private
economic
agents.
CEMPE
is
a
think
tank
that
analyzes
the
Mexican
economy
quantitatively,
offering
a
neutral,
autonomous,
and
technical
perspective.
It
proposes
substantive
elements
for
decision-making
on
macroeconomic
issues.
As
part
of
the
National
Autonomous
University
of
Mexico
(UNAM),
it
focuses
on
three
main
objectives:
teaching,
research,
and
dissemination
—
and
most
importantly,
the
development of human capital.
•
Macroeconomic
forecasts
and
sensitivity
analysis:
Forecasts
of
key
variables
and
the
determination
of
their
short-,
medium-, and long-term sensitivities to changes in economic conditions.
•
Econometric
modeling
and
applied
studies:
Prospective
analyses
that
produce
different
economic
policy
scenarios
to better understand the future and avoid repeating past mistakes.
•
Training
and
continuing
education
through
specialized
courses
such
as
Macroeconomics
III,
Selected
Topics
in
Macroeconomics,
and
the
Specialization
in
Applied
Econometrics,
aimed
at
training
highly
skilled
professionals.
