Created    by    the    Faculty    of    Economics    at    UNAM    in    February    2002,    with    the    aim    of    contributing    substantive    elements    to    the improvement of decision-making processes and to the analysis and resolution of macroeconomic problems
Develop   short-,   medium-,   and   long-term   macroeconomic   and   sectoral   forecasts   to   analyze   economic   policy alternatives as solutions to the challenges facing the Mexican economy Define   coherent   and   consistent   criteria   based   on   conjunctural   and   prospective   analysis,   with   the   objective   of providing substantial support for decision-making processes under conditions of economic uncertainty. Identify   key   factors,   opportunities,   and   internal   and   external   barriers   so   that   businesses   and   institutions   can compete with better chances of success. Integrate a group of academics and researchers interested in econometric modeling. Improve   student   employability   by   turning   them   into   essential   contributors   to   decision-making   processes   through the Applied Econometrics Specialization. Facilitate   the   implementation   and   completion   of   graduate   programs,   considering   that   the   academic   structure   of the specialization addresses deficiencies observed at various educational levels.
The    Center    for    Modeling    and    Economic Forecasts   (CEMPE)   is   a   leading   actor   in   the discussion    of    current    economic    policy.    Its research    and    quarterly    meetings    serve    as important     references     for     decision-making among    both    public    and    private    economic agents.
CEMPE    is    a    think    tank     that    analyzes    the Mexican    economy    quantitatively,    offering    a neutral,         autonomous,         and         technical perspective.   It   proposes   substantive   elements for      decision-making      on      macroeconomic issues.   As   part   of   the   National   Autonomous University    of    Mexico    (UNAM),    it    focuses    on three   main   objectives:   teaching,   research,   and dissemination    —    and    most    importantly,    the development of human capital.
Macroeconomic   forecasts   and   sensitivity   analysis:   Forecasts   of   key   variables   and   the   determination   of   their   short-, medium-, and long-term sensitivities to changes in economic conditions.
Econometric   modeling   and   applied   studies:   Prospective   analyses   that   produce   different   economic   policy   scenarios to better understand the future and avoid repeating past mistakes.
Training   and   continuing   education   through   specialized   courses   such   as   Macroeconomics   III,   Selected   Topics   in Macroeconomics,   and   the   Specialization   in   Applied   Econometrics,   aimed   at   training   highly   skilled   professionals.   To consult the programs and syllabi, please access the following link: Applied Econometrics Specialization Program.
