BACKGROUND
El
Centro
de
Modelística
y
Pronósticos
Económicos
(CEMPE)
was
established
on
February
7,
2002,
by
the
Facultad
de
Economía
of
the
UNAM,
with
the
aim
of
strengthening
decision-making
processes
and
contributing
to
the
analysis
and
resolution of macroeconomic issues.
CEMPE
brings
together
specialists
from
various
fields
of
economics,
with
a
particular
focus
on
econometrics,
enabling
the
integration
of
academic
research
with
high-level
practical applications.
OFFICIAL INAUGURATION
The presentation of CEMPE was presided over by:
Roberto Escalante Semerena (director).
Carlos Javier Cabrera Adame (Secretary General of the Facultad de
Economía).
The ceremony was attended by prominent figures such as:
Ernesto Acevedo
Luis Miguel Galindo
Martín Puchet Anyul, Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Economics.
Eduardo Loría Díaz, First Coordinator of CEMPE
The event also featured a special message from Lawrence Klein, Nobel Laureate in
Economics (1980), who remarked:
“Economists are not musicians tuning econometric models as if they were musical
instruments.”
